Geography Of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve

Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh, India has a total area of 1,161 square kilometers: 

  • Core area: 624 square kilometers 
  • Buffer area: 537 square kilometers 
  • Tourist area: 105 square kilometers, also known as the Tala Range 

 

The park is located in the eastern Satpura hills of the Vindhyan Mountain ranges in central India. It's situated at an altitude of 440–810 meters above sea level.

  • Seasons: The park has three seasons: summer (April–mid June), monsoon (mid June–late September), and winter (October–mid February). 
  • Temperature: The maximum temperature is 46.4°C, and the minimum is –1.4°C. 
  • Rainfall: The park receives 1,175 millimeters of rainfall. 
  • Biodiversity: The park is home to a large variety of species, including leopards, deer, and tigers. 
  • Habitats: The park has grasslands, wetlands, and meadows, as well as Palash trees and the Sundew plant.
